For fine dining, the city's luxury hotels have taken on new prominence. Areas outside the beltway in Virginia and Maryland also can be counted on for culinary diversity including Asian delights. Reservations are highly recommended in Washington D.C., especially for Saturday nights or any evening between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Some restaurants offer well-priced bar menus, a viable alternative when dining room tables are fully booked. Other dining spots accept no reservations at all, making the wait for a table part of the adventure. Restaurants offering valet parking in this city of crowded streets provide a true perk even when service is not free. Fewer and fewer enclaves require men to wear jacket and tie, although some do, so check if in doubt.
